Understanding Wireless Transmission Technology

Wireless communication is essentially transferring data between two or more locations that don’t use an electric conductor to carry out the transfer. The most popular wireless communication technologies use radio signals as their main method of transfer. It also uses other forms of transmissions, such as light waves and infrared waves. This is very different from the wired technology we all know.

To understand how wireless transmission works, it helps to have a basic understanding of the different types of signals used in communication. First, there is a radio frequency. It is the oldest form of communication as well as one of the most commonly used methods. It is widely used for the communication of signals within general mobile networks, cellular phones and POTS (Internet protocol television signals). It is one of the most efficient ways of transferring information at an incredible speed, and it’s free.

Next is microwave radiation. As its name suggests, microwave radiation is a very high-frequency electromagnetic radiation produced by many different sources, including microwave ovens, dishwashers, cars, and even radars which are sometimes positioned on the moon or on the other outer planets. These microwaves can only penetrate a few millimeters of the surface area before they lose their energy. These electromagnetic waves are not very strong, though, and so they need a further intermediary mode called the electrodynamic range, which is used in place of radio waves for wireless transmission.

An additional form of wireless transmission is cordless telephones. Cordless phones are often used as walkie-talkies, which allow people to communicate over limited ranges. Some newer cordless phones even incorporate an indoor base station that enables these devices to pick up signals from various portable electronic devices. The base station is connected to an extensive central database that stores phone numbers and other personal information about users and other devices. When a person wants to make or receive a call, he pushes a button that activates a tiny receiver at the other end. The receiver then transfers the call automatically to the central database, where it is stored until the user wishes to end the call.

Wireless devices are now widely used for commercial purposes as well as in residential areas for communication. It is imperative that all wireless transmission devices have well-known factors that allow them to transmit signals effectively. A wireless transmission device should be able to send signals efficiently even if one or more surrounding walls block or affect the signal. This factor is known as the interference factor.

In order to prevent interference, wireless transmission systems employ technology that allows them to convert electromagnetic waves into electrical energy using a demultiplexer. The demultiplexer splits the electromagnetic waves into their various constituent bits and transmits them using their different modes. This process ensures that the transmitted signals are well separated so that no unwanted energy is wasted. This is the main reason why most wireless transmission systems are efficient and secure.

For a good and smooth operation, a wireless transmission system should also have a strong antenna. An effective antenna will be able to send strong and clear signals to a broader area. This is especially important when two wireless networks need to connect to each other because a single weak point in an antenna can hinder both networks. An antenna will also allow the transmitter to tune into the desired frequency.
The effectiveness of a wireless transmission device largely depends on the antennas used and on the quality of signals being transmitted. Some devices may be able to successfully transmit signals to hundreds of meters, while others may only reach up to thirty meters. In addition, some antennas will need to be pointed directly at the transmitter, while others may need to be directed in a particular direction so as to send signals in the right direction. A significant downside of wireless communication devices which are placed indoors is that they are often susceptible to electrical interference, especially when two electrical appliances come in contact with one another. Wireless transmission devices are therefore usually placed outside.

The principle of wireless transmission is also used in RFID technology. Through the signal generator, antenna, receiver to read and write the data in the chip for the next operation. RFID technology is widely used in transportation, warehouse management, book management, member management, etc.
